Understanding and Managing Time Limits in Patent Procedures

Missing a deadline can have significant consequences during a patent procedure. It is therefore essential to understand when a time limit begins and ends, how deadlines are calculated and monitored, and what steps may be available if a time limit cannot be met.

In this live webinar, you will receive a compact introduction to the most important principles of time limits in patent procedures. You will learn how deadlines arise during the examination and grant procedure and how to deal with them correctly in practice.

A particular focus is placed on the calculation of deadlines, including the start and end of a time limit, as well as the possibilities for extending certain deadlines.

What Happens if a Deadline Is Missed?

Despite careful deadline management, time limits may occasionally be missed. The webinar therefore also addresses the possible consequences of a failure to meet a deadline and introduces important procedural remedies.

You will gain an overview of the circumstances in which further processing or re-establishment of rights (restitutio in integrum) may be available and what needs to be considered when taking such steps.
